Leea indica (Burm.f.) Merr.

Leea indica is a shrub in the Vitaceae family, reaching up to 5 m in height. It is found in the undergrowth of secondary and disturbed evergreen forests in Indomalaya, Indochina, and the Western Ghats of India. Previously, populations in Malesia, New Guinea, Australia, and the southwestern Pacific islands were classified under this species, but they are now recognized as Leea nova-guineensis.
Description
Leea indica (Burm.f.) Merr. is a member of the Vitaceae family and is known as bandicoot-berry. It is native to regions including India, Sri Lanka, and parts of Indomalaya and Indochina. The species was first described in 1919. Earlier records from Malesia, New Guinea, and the Pacific islands were later reclassified as a distinct species, Leea nova-guineensis.
