Nymphoides indica, described in 1891 by Kuntze, is a species of aquatic plant found in tropical regions worldwide. It belongs to the Menyanthaceae family and is known by the common name banana plant. The species is native to areas including parts of South America, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific. It has been reported in regions such as the 48 conterminous United States, Assam, Bangladesh, Borneo, Cambodia, China South-Central, China Southeast, and Fiji. The plant is sometimes grown in cultivation but has also become a minor invasive in Florida. It is similar in appearance to the native Nymphoides aquatica in that region.
