Daphne blagayana, known as Balkan daphne, is a flowering plant species in the genus Daphne, family Thymelaeaceae. It was discovered in 1837 near Polhov Gradec by Heinrich Freyer and named after the botanist Rihard Blagaj. The species was formally published in 1838.

Description

Daphne blagayana is native to the Balkan region, where it is found in Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Yugoslavia. As a member of the Thymelaeaceae family, it shares characteristics with other species in the genus Daphne, such as its woody growth form and showy flowers. The plant is named after the botanist Rihard Blagaj, in recognition of his contributions to botany.
