Paspalum notatum, commonly known as Bahia grass, is a tropical to subtropical perennial grass in the Poaceae family. It is characterized by a V-shaped inflorescence with two spike-like racemes containing small spikelets. The species is found in various regions, including Itacolomi State Park in Brazil and other locations across the globe.

Description

Paspalum notatum, described by Flüggé in 1810, is a member of the Poaceae family and is commonly referred to as Bahia grass. It is a perennial grass with a distinctive V-shaped inflorescence composed of two racemes containing tiny spikelets, each measuring 2.8–3.5 mm in length. The species is documented in campo rupestre vegetation in Itacolomi State Park, Calais, MG, Brazil, as well as in other regions such as Açores, Graciosa Island, and Santa Maria Island. It has a wide distribution across multiple biogeographic regions, including the Afrotropical, Australasian, Nearctic, Neotropical, Oriental (Indomalaya), Palaearctic, and Pacific (Oceania) regions.
