It was formally described in 2000 by Med.-Costa and Noblick, with the name later published by A.J.Hend. This palm is part of the genus Bactris, which includes a diverse group of spiny-stemmed palms primarily found in tropical regions of the Americas.

Description

Bactris glassmanii belongs to the Arecaceae family, commonly known as the palm family. It is endemic to the northeastern part of Brazil, a region characterized by its semi-arid climate and unique biodiversity.
