Tapeinochilos ananassae is an evergreen herb in the family Costaceae, known by common names such as backscratcher ginger, torch ginger, or Indonesian wax ginger. It was first described as a species in 1866. Native to New Guinea, the Indonesian province of Maluku, and Queensland, Australia, this perennial plant can grow up to 2.4 m in height and 2.1 m in spread. Its inflorescence features a cylindrical arrangement of bright red bracts enclosing yellow flowers.

Description
