Tagetes minuta, commonly known as Aztec marigold, is a tall upright plant in the Asteraceae family. Native to the southwestern part of South America, it has been introduced globally and naturalized in Europe, Asia, Australasia, North America, and Africa since the Spanish colonization. It has various local names, including Huacatay or Wacatay in the Andes, and other regional names such as chinchilla, chiquilla, zuico, and black mint.
