Areca triandra, known as the Australian areca palm, is a species in the Arecaceae family. It is native to regions including India, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The species was first described in 1826 by Roxb. ex Buch.-Ham. It is also found naturalized in areas such as Hawaii, Panama, Sri Lanka, and southern China. This palm is often cultivated for ornamental purposes and is typically found in littoral forests in its native range.

Description

Areca triandra is a member of the Arecaceae family and is part of the Areca genus. It is distributed across several regions, including the Andaman Islands, Assam, Bangladesh, Borneo, Cambodia, China South-Central, China Southeast, Laos, Malaya, Myanmar, Nicobar Islands, Panama, the Philippines, Sumatera, Thailand, Trinidad-Tobago, and Vietnam. This palm is commonly found in coastal forests in Southeast Asia and is frequently grown for its ornamental value. Its native range includes parts of South and Southeast Asia, and it has been reported to be naturalized in various other locations.
