Pisonia brunoniana is a flowering tree species in the Nyctaginaceae family, native to northern New Zealand, Lord Howe Island, and the Hawaiian Islands. It is commonly known as the Australasian catchbirdtree, and in New Zealand, it is referred to as parapara or birdcatcher tree.

Description

Pisonia brunoniana, described by Endl. in 1833, is a member of the genus Pisonia. This species is part of the Nyctaginaceae family and is found in northern New Zealand, on Lord Howe Island in Australia, and in the Hawaiian Islands. It is known for its common names, including Australasian catchbirdtree, and locally in New Zealand, it is called parapara or birdcatcher tree.
