Euphorbia hirta L.
Euphorbia hirta, known as Asthma-plant, is a pantropical weed native to the tropical regions of the Americas. It is a hairy herb commonly found in open grasslands, roadsides, and pathways. The plant is used in traditional herbal medicine for asthma, skin ailments, and hypertension. It is also consumed as herbal tea for treating fevers, particularly dengue fever and malaria in the Philippines.
Description
Euphorbia hirta belongs to the family Euphorbiaceae and is widely distributed across several regions including Antioquia, Atlántico, Bolívar, Caldas, Chocó, Córdoba, Cundinamarca, Huila, Magdalena, Meta, San Andrés y Providencia, Santander, Sucre, Tolima, Valle del Cauca, Vichada, and other locations in South America, as well as in parts of Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. It was first described in 1753 by Carl Linnaeus.
