Astelia nervosa, known as mountain astelia or bush flax, is a herbaceous plant native to New Zealand. It was first described in 1853 by Hook.f., based on work by Banks & Sol. It belongs to the family Asteliaceae and is found in both the North and South Islands of New Zealand.

Description

Astelia nervosa has long, flexible, leathery leaves that are light green and grey in color. Its flowers range in color from light brown to red, and its mature fruits are typically orange. This species is part of the genus Astelia and is one of several plants referred to as bush flax in New Zealand.
