Asplundia alata, described by Harling in 1958, is a member of the genus Asplundia in the plant family Cyclanthaceae. The species is native to a range that includes Cerro Tacarcuna, Unguía, Chocó, Amazonas, Antioquia, Putumayo, Cerro Mecana, and the municipio Bahía Solano in Chocó, Colombia, as well as in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panamá, and Peru. This distribution highlights its presence in diverse ecological zones across the northern Andes and adjacent regions.
