Aspidosperma ulei is a flowering plant in the family Apocynaceae, native to North and Northeast Brazil, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela. It is a timber tree first described in 1924 by Markgr. based on the collection Ule 8453. The species was later examined for taxonomic clarification due to uncertainty about the original type specimen's location. A specimen from the gathering Ule 8453, housed in a Brazilian herbarium (MG barcode MG 013524), was selected as the lectotype for A. ulei.

Description

Aspidosperma ulei belongs to the genus Aspidosperma within the Apocynaceae family. It is found in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil, as well as in Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela. The species was originally described by Markgr. in 1924, with the collection Ule 8453 designated as the original. However, the original type was not cited for a specific herbarium. Later, Woodson proposed Ule 8451 as a possible new type due to concerns about lost specimens. A specimen from the Ule 8453 collection was ultimately selected as the lectotype, housed in a Brazilian herbarium (MG 013524), following the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (ICN).
