Asphodeline taurica, a member of the Asphodelaceae family, is distributed across several regions including Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Krym, Lebanon-Syria, North Caucasus, Transcaucasus, and Turkey. In Greece, it is found in the mountains of the northern and central regions, extending to Sterea Ellas and the northern part of Peloponnisos. The southernmost Greek locality is on Mt. Chelmos. In NE Greece, it has been documented on Mt. Falakro, Mt. Papikio, and Mt. Angistro, with recent records adding three new mountain localities to its distribution.

Description

Asphodeline taurica is a plant species described in 1842 and belongs to the genus Asphodeline. It is documented in several mountainous regions of Greece, with specific localities including Mt. Chelmos, Mt. Falakro, Mt. Papikio, and Mt. Angistro. Recent findings in the floristic region of NE Greece have expanded its known distribution by adding three new mountains. The species is considered uncommon in Greece. Herbarium specimens are preserved in B with JACQ-IDs 655330 and 655358. Citations include works by Goulimis (1960), Andersson (1991b), Authier (1994, 2002), Tan et al. (2006), and Strid et al. (2020).
