Scilla forbesii (Baker) Speta

Scilla forbesii is a bulbous perennial plant native to west Turkey. It is known by the common name Asian Spring Bulb and is part of the Asparagaceae family. The plant flowers in early spring and is sometimes considered synonymous with Scilla siehei. It belongs to a group previously classified under the genus Chionodoxa, now treated as Scilla sect. Chionodoxa. After flowering, it becomes dormant until the following spring. It reproduces readily through seeding, forming colonies.
Description
Scilla forbesii, also known as Forbes' glory-of-the-snow, is a member of the genus Scilla in the Asparagaceae family. It is native to west Turkey and is distributed in regions such as Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Germany, and the United States. The plant is a bulbous perennial that flowers in early spring and is sometimes grouped with Scilla siehei, though some sources distinguish the two. It was previously included in the genus Chionodoxa, now considered a section within Scilla. Following its spring bloom, the plant enters a period of dormancy. It reproduces effectively through seed dispersal, forming dense colonies over time.
