Vitis cinerea, known as ashy grape, is a species in the Vitaceae family. It is native to regions including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, and parts of Mexico. This grape species produces small black berries and is commonly found in the eastern half of the United States.

Description

Vitis cinerea, also referred to as graybark grape, is a member of the Vitaceae family. It is distributed across several U.S. states such as Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, and others, as well as in various regions of Mexico. The plant is characterized by its small black berries, which are not particularly palatable. It is also known by alternative common names including winter grape and possum grape. Vitis cinerea was first described in 1880.
