Juniperus ashei, known as Ashe Juniper, is a drought-tolerant evergreen tree native to northeastern Mexico and the south-central United States, including Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and southern Missouri. It can grow up to 15 m tall and is found in extensive stands, particularly in central Texas. The species was described by J.Buchholz in 1930.

Description

Ashe Juniper is a member of the Cupressaceae family and is part of the Juniperus genus. It provides erosion control and offers year-round shade for wildlife and livestock. Its range includes areas from northeastern Mexico into the U.S., with a notable presence in Texas. The species is adapted to arid conditions and is a significant component of local ecosystems.
