Description
Artanema longifolium is a tropical flowering plant in the Linderniaceae family. It is distributed across Angola, Benin, Cambodia, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Ghana, India, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Liberia, Malaya, Myanmar, Nigeria, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, and Togo. The plant has culinary and medicinal applications; its leaves are cooked and eaten, while its roots are used to treat rheumatism, diarrhea, syphilis, and ophthalmitis. In Ayurvedic medicine, extracts are used to address myositis and nausea. The species was first described in 1882.
