Lycium exsertum, known as Arizona desert-thorn, is a species in the Solanaceae family. It is native to southern Arizona and northwestern Mexico, where it grows in desert and scrubland habitats, particularly on slopes and alluvial washes. This shrub can reach up to 12 ft (3.7 m) in height.

Description

Lycium exsertum is a flowering shrub in the nightshade family, Solanaceae. It is found in arid environments and is adapted to desert conditions. The species was first described in 1885 by A. Gray. It is a prominent feature of desert and scrubland ecosystems in its native range.
