Juglans australis, known as the Argentine walnut, is a species in the Juglandaceae family. It is a tall, fast-growing tree found in the Southern Andean Yungas and montane cloud forests of Argentina and Bolivia.

Description

Juglans australis, the Argentine walnut, is a tree species native to the Southern Andean Yungas and montane cloud forests on the eastern slopes of the Andes. It occurs in Tucumán, Salta, and Jujuy provinces of Argentina, as well as Tarija and Chuquisaca departments of Bolivia. This species can reach heights of up to 20 m (66 ft) and typically grows at elevations between 0.5 and 1.5 km (1,600–4,900 ft). It is part of the Juglandaceae family and is threatened due to habitat loss.
