Arachnitis uniflora is the only species in the genus Arachnitis, belonging to the family Corsiaceae. It is a mycoheterotrophic plant that does not perform photosynthesis and instead acquires carbon from mycorrhizal fungi in the family Glomeraceae connected to its roots.

Description

Arachnitis uniflora is distributed across Argentina South, Bolivia, Chile Central, Chile South, Falkland Is., and Peru. As a non-photosynthetic species, it relies entirely on mycorrhizal associations for its nutritional needs. The plant is part of the Corsiaceae family and was first described in 1864.
