Antidesma acidum, described by Retz. in 1788, belongs to the family Phyllanthaceae. It is distributed across several regions including the Andaman Islands, Assam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China South-Central, East Himalaya, India, Java, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Nicobar Islands, Pakistan, Thailand, Vietnam, and West Himalaya. In Luang Prabang (Laos), the leaves are sold in open-air markets, often paired with Russula mushrooms to add a sour flavor to mushroom-based soups.
