Anthodiscus obovatus is a species in the Caryocaraceae family, native to northern South America. It is found in Brazil, Colombia, and Venezuela, particularly in Amazonian regions such as Amazonas, Caquetá, Vaupés, and the Guainía department. The species was first described in 1886 by Benth. ex Wittm.

Description

Anthodiscus obovatus belongs to the Caryocaraceae family, a group of flowering plants commonly known as the caryocar family. This species is distributed across northern South America, with records from Brazil's Amazonas region, Colombia's Amazonia nororiental, including Caquetá, Vaupés, and the Guainía department, as well as the municipality of Inírida. It is also found in Venezuela. The species was formally described in 1886 by Benth. ex Wittm. and is part of the genus Anthodiscus, which includes several tree species native to the Neotropics.
