Nothofagus cunninghamii (Hook.) Oerst., known as Antarctic beech, is a dominant tree in cool temperate rainforests of Tasmania and southern Victoria. It thrives in partial shade and has low fire resistance.

Description

Nothofagus cunninghamii belongs to the Nothofagaceae family and is native to Tasmania, Victoria, and other regions. It is commonly referred to as Antarctic beech in English and is a key species in cool temperate rainforest ecosystems. This species prefers shaded environments and is sensitive to fire. It was first described in 1871.
