Nothofagus antarctica, known as Antarctic Beech, is a deciduous tree or shrub native to southern Chile and Argentina, ranging from approximately 36°S to Tierra del Fuego. It is primarily found in temperate rainforests.

Description

Nothofagus antarctica (G.Forst.) Oerst. is a species in the Nothofagaceae family, part of the genus Nothofagus. This tree is native to southern regions of Chile and Argentina, where it occurs from around 36°S latitude down to Tierra del Fuego. It is commonly found in temperate rainforests, though these habitats are increasingly diminishing. The species was first described in 1871. It is also known by the common name Antarctic Beech in English.
