Urtica urens, known as Annual Nettle, is an herbaceous annual flowering plant in the Urticaceae family. Native to Eurasia, it has been introduced to North America, New Zealand, and South Africa. It is reported to have a stronger sting than Urtica dioica.

Description

Urtica urens is an annual herb in the nettle family Urticaceae. It is found in regions such as the Himalayas in India, and has been introduced to parts of North America, including Greenland, Canada, and the United States, as well as to Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Açores, Madeira, Portugal, Brazil, and other islands. It is known by several common names, including Annual Nettle, Dwarf Nettle, and Burning Nettle. The plant is recognized for its stinging hairs, which reportedly cause a more intense reaction than those of Urtica dioica.
