Agoseris heterophylla, known as annual agoseris or mountain dandelion, is a herbaceous plant in the Asteraceae family. It is native to western North America, occurring in drier regions from British Columbia to Baja California, as well as parts of the southwestern U.S., Mexico, and nearby islands. The species was first described in 1891.

Description

Annual agoseris is a low-growing herb, typically 0-5 cm tall, with a single flowering stem. It has rosette leaves that are obovate or linear, 1.0-25.0 cm long, with 4-10 lateral lobes. The peduncle ranges from 3.0-60.0 cm in length and may be glabrescent or glandular. The inflorescence has 5-300 yellow ligulate flowers. Involucral bracts are green or purple, often glandular and ciliate. The achenes are fusiform to obovoid, with a beak 5.0-11.0 mm long, and a pappus 4.0-9.0 mm long. It is commonly found in arid and semi-arid habitats.
