Juniperus drupacea, the Syrian juniper, is a species of juniper native to the eastern Mediterranean region, including southern Greece, southern Turkey, western Syria, Lebanon, and northern Israel. It grows on rocky sites at altitudes between 800 and 1,700 metres. This species is the sole member of Juniperus sect. Caryocedrus, a section sometimes treated as the genus Arceuthos.

Description

Juniperus drupacea, described by Labill. in 1791, belongs to the genus Juniperus in the family Cupressaceae. It is found in the eastern Mediterranean, particularly in rocky habitats from 800 to 1,700 metres elevation. The species is known by the common name andys. It is the only member of the section Caryocedrus, which is occasionally classified as a separate genus, Arceuthos.
