Amphitecna macrophylla, known as black calabash or chaff-bush, is a member of the Bignoniaceae family. It is native to parts of Mexico and Guatemala, growing in small patches. This plant can reach heights of 15 to 30 feet and is adapted to dry conditions, thriving in USDA Hardiness Zone 10b.

Description

Amphitecna macrophylla, also referred to as black calabash or chaff-bush, is a plant species in the Bignoniaceae family. It is found in localized areas of Mexico and Guatemala. The species was first described in 1882. It is a drought-tolerant plant capable of growing up to 30 feet tall. It is suited for USDA Hardiness Zone 10b.
