Yucca glauca, known as American Vetch, is a perennial evergreen plant adapted to dry environments. It is native to several regions in North America, including Alberta, Saskatchewan, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming. The species was first described in 1813 by Nutt.

Description

Yucca glauca is a member of the Asparagaceae family and is commonly referred to by several names, including small soapweed, soapweed yucca, Spanish bayonet, and Great Plains yucca. It is well-suited for xeric conditions, making it a resilient plant in arid and semi-arid regions. The plant is part of the Yucca genus, which includes other species adapted to similar environmental conditions.
