Phytolacca acinosa, known as American Pokeweed, is a flowering plant in the Phytolaccaceae family. Native to temperate eastern Asia, including the Himalayas, China, Vietnam, and Japan, it has been introduced to Europe. First described by William Roxburgh in 1814, it is now found in regions such as Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, and others.

Description

Phytolacca acinosa is a species of flowering plant in the Phytolaccaceae family. It is native to temperate eastern Asia, including the Himalayas, most of China, Vietnam, and Japan. The plant has been widely introduced to Europe and is now distributed across several countries, including Belgium, the Flemish and Walloon Regions, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, and others. The species was first described by William Roxburgh in 1814 and is commonly referred to as American Pokeweed in English.
