Pterocarpus indicus is a species in the Fabaceae family, native to southeastern Asia, northern Australasia, and the western Pacific islands. It is found in regions including Cambodia, southernmost China, East Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, the Ryukyu Islands, the Solomon Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam. Commonly known as Amboyna Wood, it was first described in 1802 by Willd.

Pterocarpus indicus, commonly known as Amboyna Wood, is a member of the Fabaceae family. It is native to southeastern Asia, northern Australasia, and the western Pacific islands. Its natural distribution includes Cambodia, southernmost China, East Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, the Ryukyu Islands, the Solomon Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam. The species was first published in 1802 by Willd. It is also reported from various locations including the Andaman Islands, Bangladesh, and parts of the Indian Ocean such as Curieuse, Mare Aux Cochons, and the Vallee de Mai Nature Reserve. Pterocarpus indicus has a wide geographic presence, with records from multiple countries and regions across its range.
