Cecropia pachystachya, known as Ambay pumpwood, is a tree species in the Urticaceae family. It is native to Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Brazil, where it typically grows along the edges of moist forests.

Description

Cecropia pachystachya is a member of the genus Cecropia in the Urticaceae family. It is found in the conterminous 48 United States, Argentina Northeast, Brazil Northeast, Brazil North, Brazil Southeast, Brazil South, Brazil West-Central, Cook Is., Jawa, Malaya, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This species was first described in 1847 by Trécul.
