Victoria amazonica is a species of flowering plant in the Nymphaeaceae family, known as the Amazon water-lily. It is the second largest water lily and is native to tropical South America, particularly the Amazon Basin and Guyana. It is known as Vitória-Régia or Iaupê-Jaçanã in Brazil and Atun Sisac in Quechua.

Description

Victoria amazonica (Poepp.) Klotzsch is a member of the Nymphaeaceae family and is native to the Amazon Basin and Guyana. It is recognized for its large size and is referred to as the Amazon water-lily. The species was first described in 1847 and is found in regions such as Brazil, Colombia, and other parts of the Neotropical zone. Locally, it is known by names such as Vitória-Régia and Iaupê-Jaçanã in Brazil and Atun Sisac in Quechua.
