Yucca baileyi, known as Alpine Yucca, is a member of the Asparagaceae family. It is native to the southwestern United States, including Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. Much of its range is within the Navajo Reservation, where the plant is used by the Navajo people for fibers in crafting and ceremonial items, and for soap from its roots. The species is not considered threatened due to its large range and stable population.

Description

Yucca baileyi was first described in 1913 by Wooton & Standl. It is found in a variety of habitats across its native range and is also cultivated outside of it. The plant is valued for its utility by the Navajo people, who use its fibers and roots for practical and cultural purposes. Its distribution remains stable, and it is not currently at risk of decline.
