Smelowskia americana is a species in the Brassicaceae family, commonly known as alpine smelowskia. It is native to the mountain ranges of western North America, including the Olympic Mountains, Cascade Range, and Rocky Mountains. The plant is found on rocky outcrops and talus at subalpine and alpine elevations, ranging from 1,300 to 4,000 metres. It blooms from late May until early September.

Description

Smelowskia americana, described by Rydb. in 1902, is a member of the Brassicaceae family. It is distributed across several regions including Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. This species thrives in rocky habitats at high elevations and is known by the common names alpine smelowskia, Siberian smelowskia, and American false candytuft.
