Prasophyllum alpinum, known as the alpine leek orchid, is a species of Orchidaceae found in New South Wales, Tasmania, and Victoria. It was first described in 1810 by R.Br. This orchid is distinguished by its single, tube-shaped leaf and up to fourteen green to greenish-brown flowers. It grows in subalpine regions and is smaller in flower size compared to related species on the mainland.

Description

Prasophyllum alpinum is a member of the Orchidaceae family and is native to parts of southeastern Australia. It features a solitary, tubular leaf and produces up to fourteen small, green to greenish-brown flowers. The species is typically found in subalpine habitats. Previously thought to occur on the mainland, it is now considered distinct from mainland populations due to its smaller flowers. The plant is commonly referred to as the alpine leek orchid.
