Larix lyallii is a deciduous conifer native to northwestern North America, occurring in the Rocky Mountains of Idaho, Montana, British Columbia, and Alberta, as well as a disjunct population in Washington. It is found at high elevations, between 1,500 and 2,900 meters.
Description
Larix lyallii, known as alpine larch, is a species of the genus Larix in the family Pinaceae. It is distributed across the Rocky Mountains in Idaho, Montana, British Columbia, and Alberta, with a disjunct population in the Cascade Range of Washington. This tree is adapted to high-altitude environments, typically growing between 1,500 and 2,900 meters. The species was first described in 1863.
