Allocasuarina ophiolitica L.A.S.Johnson

Allocasuarina ophiolitica is a flowering plant species in the family Casuarinaceae, native to a limited region in eastern New South Wales. It is a dioecious shrub with branchlets reaching up to 190 mm in length, and its leaves are reduced to scales arranged in whorls of seven to nine. The species produces fruiting cones measuring 9–20 mm long, containing winged seeds that are 3.5–6.0 mm long.
Description
This species was first described by L.A.S. Johnson in 1989. Allocasuarina ophiolitica is characterized by its shrub-like growth form and is restricted to a small area within New South Wales. Its reproductive structures include cones that enclose seeds with wings, a feature typical of the genus. The plant's morphology reflects adaptations to its specific ecological niche, with scale-like leaves and elongated branchlets.
