Alkanna orientalis (L.) Boiss., a member of the Boraginaceae family, is a plant species native to several regions in North Africa and the Middle East.

Description

Alkanna orientalis is a species of the genus Alkanna in the Boraginaceae family. It is distributed across Algeria, the East Aegean Islands, Iran, Lebanon-Syria, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sinai, the Transcaucasus, Tunisia, Turkey, and Yemen. The species was first described in 1844 by the botanist Boiss. as a taxonomic revision of the original work by Linnaeus. This plant is part of a family that includes other notable genera such as Echium and Heliotropium. Its geographic range spans a variety of arid and semi-arid habitats typical of the regions it inhabits.
