Frankenia salina, known as alkali seaheath, is a perennial herb found in California, Nevada, Mexico, and Chile. It is native to these regions and is uncommon even in the area where it is most frequently encountered, near the San Francisco Bay Area.

Frankenia salina, a member of the Frankeniaceae family, is a perennial herb that grows in arid and semi-arid environments. It is distributed across California, Nevada, parts of Mexico, and Chile. The plant is native to these regions and is typically found in saline or alkaline soils. Despite its native range, it is considered uncommon, even in areas where it is most likely to occur, such as just north of the San Francisco Bay Area. The species was first described in 1924 by I.M. Johnston, based on earlier work by Molina. It is adapted to harsh, dry conditions and is part of the unique flora of the regions it inhabits.
