Description
Abies numidica is a fir species endemic to Algeria, confined to the Kabylie region, especially on the high-altitude summits of Mount Tababor and Grand-Babor. The species was first described by Carrière in 1866, with a detailed diagnosis distinguishing it from A. pinsapo. The protologue references specimens collected from the area but does not designate a type. A specimen at P (P 00507232) is considered potentially relevant but lacks direct linkage to the material mentioned in the original description. The species is known only from its type locality in the Kabylie region, at elevations where snow is nearly permanent in some areas.
