Alfaroa costaricensis is a nut-bearing timber tree in the Juglandaceae family. It is native to the Neotropics, occurring from Mexico through Central America to Colombia.

Description

Alfaroa costaricensis, known by local names such as campano chile, chiciscua, gaulin, gavilán Colorado, and gavilancillo, is a species in the Juglandaceae family. It is found in the Global regions of Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico Gulf, Mexico Southeast, and Nicaragua, as well as in Panamá. The species was first described in 1927 by Standl.
