It is a monocarpic species, meaning it flowers and fruits only once before dying.

Description

Caryota rumphiana is a palm species with bipinnate leaves that can have up to 1,800 fan-shaped or wedge-shaped leaflets, each measuring up to 15 inches in length and six inches in width. The plant was first described in 1838. Its native range includes several island regions in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. The plant's unique leaf shape and flowering structure are notable features.
