Micranthes ferruginea, known as Alaska saxifrage, is a flowering plant in the Saxifragaceae family. It is native to western North America, including Alaska, northwestern Canada, and northern California to Wyoming. This perennial herb grows in moist, rocky habitats in mountainous regions.

Description

Micranthes ferruginea is a perennial herb that grows from a caudex and rhizome system, forming a basal rosette of leaves. The leaves are up to 6 centimeters long, thick, fleshy, and have large teeth along the edges. The inflorescence is on a slender, hairy peduncle up to 40 centimeters tall, with thin branches bearing flowers and reproductive bulbils. The flowers have spade-shaped white petals, with the upper ones dotted with gold. It is found in moist, rocky habitats in mountainous areas of western North America.
