Description
Agrimonia pilosa is a herbaceous plant with a stem that can grow between 50 and 150 cm in height. The stem is covered with long, eglandular hairs. The leaves are green on both sides, with the underside having glandular hairs and very few eglandular hairs. The leaflets have 3 to 8 pairs of teeth and are cuneate and entire at the base. The raceme is lax, and the petals are pale yellow, measuring 2 to 5 mm in length and are entire. The mature hypanthium, including bristles, is 4 to 5 mm in length and 3 to 5 mm in width. It is deeply grooved along its length and is more or less glabrous, except for the bristles, which are connivent and interwoven.
Habitat
Agrimonia pilosa is found in a variety of habitats across its native range, including temperate regions from approximately 49° to 62° N latitude. It extends westward to southern Finland, northeastern Poland, and central Romania. The plant is also found in the U.S.S.R., the Baltic States, Belarus, and other parts of Europe and Asia.
Cultivation
Agrimonia pilosa is not widely cultivated but can be grown in temperate gardens with well-drained soil. It prefers partial shade to full sun and thrives in moist, loamy conditions. The plant is relatively hardy and can tolerate a range of soil types, provided there is good drainage.
