Oxalis pes-caprae, known as African wood-sorrel, is a yellow-flowering plant in the Oxalidaceae family. It was first described in 1753 and is also referred to by the synonym Oxalis cernua. The species is tristylous, a reproductive trait observed in some flowering plants.

Description

Oxalis pes-caprae is native to the Cape region of South Africa and has been introduced to various regions, including Açores, Madeira, Portugal, the Juan Fernandez Islands, and parts of Europe such as Belgium and France. It is a perennial herb characterized by its trifoliate leaves and bright yellow flowers. This species is commonly found in a wide range of habitats and is known for its ability to naturalize in new environments.
