Aethionema capitatum (Brassicaceae) was published by Boissier and Balansa in 1856. The species is distributed in Lebanon-Syria and Turkey. The original description was based on material in G-BOIS, and the isotypes include printed labels with modified text. The locality in the protologue differs from the holotype or isotype sheets. HEDGE (1965) provided a label combining text from the original protologue and isotype label. One isotype (G 00002083) is a collection folder containing two sheets, one of which is unlabeled.
