Abrahamia buxifolia is a species of flowering plant in the family Anacardiaceae, native to Madagascar. It was first described in 2017. The species is characterized by its glaucous and subcoriaceous leaves, which distinguish it from its congener A. itremoensis. The plant produces male and female flowers with distinct morphological features.
Description
Abrahamia buxifolia is a tree species reaching 2 to 7 meters in height, with white milky latex in the bark. Leaves are obovate to elliptic, 1.5 to 6.8 by 1 to 2.7 cm, subcoriaceous, glaucous, and often chocolate brown when dry. The adaxial surface is glabrous, while the abaxial surface is glabrous except for a sericeous indument on the midvein. Inflorescences are axillary and terminal, with male and female flowers that are 5-merous. Male flowers have 5 or 6 stamens, while female flowers have 5 or 6 staminodes. The species is distinguished from A. itremoensis by its glaucous leaves and glabrous disk in the flowers.
