Abolboda americana is a species in the family Xyridaceae, native to several regions in northern South America. It is found in Brazil (Northeast and North), Colombia (including Amazonia nororiental, Caquetá, and Guainía), French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad-Tobago, and Venezuela. The species was first described in 1937 by Lanj., with the original name attributed to Aubl.
Description
Abolboda americana is a member of the Xyridaceae family, a group of flowering plants commonly known as yellow-eyed grasses. This species is distributed across tropical regions of northern South America, including Brazil's Northeast and North regions, as well as the Amazonian departments of Caquetá, Guainía, and Vaupés in Colombia. It also occurs in French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad-Tobago, and Venezuela. The species was formally published in 1937 by Lanj., based on the original work by Aubl. Its presence in these areas indicates an adaptation to the diverse ecosystems of the Neotropical region.
